Ron Eichmeier
Wheatsfield Board Treasurer
Wow, can you believe that we’re already through the first month of 2021? However, before we jump into the new year, I’d like to share a few thoughts about 2020. I think everyone will agree that it was unique in so many ways, some related to COVID and others not so much. People had to deal with volatility in markets, weather events, stress in the workforce, challenges to businesses of all size, traditional schooling turned upside down, a Presidential election, and a multitude of other unpredictable events.
From a Wheatsfield perspective, when the pandemic was first realized there was significant concern about how it would impact your Co-op. If you were able to attend the last Virtual Annual Meeting, you know that Wheatsfield had a banner year. Linda and the entire Leadership Team, along with all the Wheatsfield team members stepped up and did an outstanding job guiding your Co-op through unchartered waters. From disinfecting shopping carts to curbside pickup, your Co-op Team has done a remarkable job of not just surviving the pandemic, but thriving under very adverse conditions!
However, the group that made 2020 a fantastic year for Wheatsfield was you, the member owners. You knew your Co-op would be a safe place to shop, and therefore placed your trust in Wheatsfield. For that, and all the commitment you’ve demonstrated over the past years I want to offer a sincere THANK YOU!
As we look forward to the rest of 2021, a question that you might ask is “Are there unexpected bumps in the road that could impact the long-term success of Wheatsfield?” The answer is “of course there could be,” however your Co-op is as well positioned today to withstand the unexpected as it has been in recent history. With your continued support, when we move to the “new normal,” Wheatsfield will be positioned to meet your needs and continue to be a business we can all be proud to be part of.
The future truly looks bright!
