March 26th Meeting Highlights
- The mini-Member Drive in the first few weeks of March was successful with approaching 50 new member-owners added so far this month.
- Results from the most recent Customer Experience survey showed that overall satisfaction with the Co-op experience remains strong, though shoppers continue to be frustrated by the Co-op’s lack of bread purchasing options in the past months.
- The new bread bakers are working hard to return the amount and types of bread available on a daily basis to what was available previously as soon as possible.
- Sales were strong in February with several departments showing more than 10% growth over sales for the same month last year. But total sales for the month were lowered by there being one less day in February this year as opposed to last year.
- The Co-op looks forward to hosting numerous events in April to celebrate Earth Week, including a beginning bike repair class on Monday, April 21, a composting with worms class on Tuesday, April 22 and two Plant a Seed events, one on Friday, April 25th and the other on Saturday, April 26th. There will also be a bulk sale during Earth Week from Thursday, April 24 through Saturday, April 26 with 15% off for member-owners and student discount participants and 5% off for non-members.
- The Wheatsfield Board members will participate in a professional facilitator-led board retreat in late March at the Gateway Hotel to discuss the Board’s role and responsibilities, the General Manager leadership transition, and strategic planning/vision for the coop in the coming years.
- The Board discussed and approved a list of potential amendments to the current lease as we prepare for lease renewal discussions with the landlord for a July 1, 2025 lease renewal.
