September 24th Board Meeting Highlights

  • On October 14th Wheatsfield will welcome member-owners at our Annual Meeting of the Members at Torrent Brewing Company at 5:30pm. Members should RSVP as soon as possible if you would like to attend.
  • This month’s Strategic Conversation at the Board meeting centered on the local economy and food: how are we meeting this core value? We discussed what constitutes “local,” which is defined as items produced in Iowa (art, beer/wine, deli, and more), and challenges for maintaining and growing the number of local producers.
  •  Wheatsfield looks forward to the October 25th Trick-or-Treat event, where the store will welcome all children for trick-or-treating in the co-op.
  • August was a strong sales month, just over budgeted sales.
  • The CEO report included a debrief about key takeaways from last month’s National Co+op Grocers’ Fall Meeting in Minneapolis.
  • Sushi Street started making and selling sushi in the co-op on September’s Member Appreciation Day and has been a success.
