Sadly, we just received news that the Double Up Food Bucks program has been suspended, effective immediately. We are no longer able to distribute or redeem Double Up Food Buck vouchers.
The Double Up Food Bucks program is a part of the Healthiest State Initiative. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the healthy food incentive program was met with overwhelming utilization by Iowans receiving SNAP, P-EBT and D-SNAP food assistance. Due to overwhelming demand, funding is no longer available to support the program. The unprecedented demand for Double Up Food Bucks over the past several months reinforces the need for fresh fruits and vegetables by Iowans facing food insecurity. The Healthiest State Initiative has submitted a request for additional CARES Act funding to sustain the Double Up Food Bucks and intends to restart the program again once funding is secured.
This breaks our hearts and we hope that funding will be secured to resume the program as soon as possible! Please hold onto your vouchers to use when the program starts again.
