The Kitchen is Ours Again!

As we are writing this update, the Deli staff are hard at work moving everything back into the kitchen. After a long morning of cleaning and working with HVAC professionals to calibrate this new system, we are finally moving back into the new and improved space.

According to our best estimates, Hot Bar and Baked Breads should be mostly available starting Thursday, February 2, just in time for Groundhogs day. We hope for a cloudy day to greet the subterranean meteorologist. Here’s to an early Spring!

The wait is almost over!

It’s been a long month of January without the Hot Bar & Baked Bread and we know you are as ready as we are to have the kitchen fully operational again.

Good News! We are hopeful that we will be able to offer Hot Bar and Baked Bread again on Wednesday (2/1) or Thursday (2/2) next week.

There are still a few items to complete for the kitchen HVAC project but hopefully none of those will keep us from reopening the kitchen. We will have more information about reopening the kitchen in next Tuesday’s E-News. The wait is almost over!

Update, More Progress

January 24, 2023

We are moving ever closer to making the kitchen operational again! The new HVAC unit for the kitchen was delivered last Friday (1-3) and successfully connected to the Wheatsfield power grid on Tuesday morning. Work continues on installing the new LED lights, ceiling tiles (4) and the new dish washer(6). Picture 5 shows the new heating/ac unit installed for our front end areas.

Co-op to Open Late, 8:30am Jan. 24th

The Co-op will open at 8:30am instead of 8am on Tuesday, January 24 due to a planned power outage that will allow the new HVAC equipment for the Kitchen HVAC project to be connected to the Wheatsfield power grid.

Deli Kitchen Construction Update

January 13, 2023

Progress is being made!

The pictures shown above (#1-4) represent the old Titan HVAC unit coming off of the roof and the curb for the new unit being built. The new unit was delivered and installed at noon today.

Progress on the inside of the kitchen is moving along with the new ductwork insulated (#8) and the hood for the new dishwasher in place (#7).

Electricians have been working to install the electrical box near the cash registers that will supply the power for the new rooftop unit this week and bringing the conduit pipes over the ceiling on the sales floor to the kitchen today.

Pictures #5 & #6 show additional ducting in the bakery area for the air filtration system and the current setup of the temporary kitchen in the community room.

As a reminder, we will not be taking special orders while the Deli Kitchen and the Bakery are under construction.

Community Room to Close, Deli & Bakery Limited

During the month of January, the Deli kitchen will undergo a major project to update the HVAC system, install a hood for the dishwasher, and an air purifier system to help reduce flour particles for the bakers. This construction project will require the closure of the kitchen and will limit our deli and bakery production for the month of January. The project will take 3-4 weeks and will start January 2, 2023.

There will be no hot bar, rotisserie chickens, or co-op baked bread during the month of January. The deli front will remain open and will provide juices, smoothies, espresso drinks, sandwiches, etc. as normal. The deli case and grab and go cooler will remain stocked as much as possible. The salad bar and soup bar will also remain open during the month. Bakery options will be limited.
